When Faith and Emotional Struggles Intersect

Hello, I am glad you are interested in learning more about Christian counseling. You may have questions about what incorporating a Christian perspective into counseling actually looks like.

Some people worry that Christian counseling means they will be judged, questioned about their faith, or simply given Bible verses to memorize. Others may want a place where they can openly talk about struggles with faith, disappointment, doubt, or difficult questions they have wrestled with through painful experiences.

I want you to know that these thoughts and concerns are normal and understandable. There have been times in my own life when difficult circumstances impacted my faith and led me to ask hard questions as well.

❤️ A Safe Place to Talk Honestly

At Journey to Hope Counseling LLC, Christian counseling is not about shame or pressure. If you choose to incorporate your faith into therapy, we can explore how Biblical principles, prayer, grace, forgiveness, boundaries, identity, and your relationship with God may connect to the struggles you are currently facing.

We can also talk honestly about how life experiences, hurt, grief, relationships, or disappointment may have affected your faith journey along the way.

My goal is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe discussing both your emotional struggles and your faith at your own pace.

Christian counseling at Journey to Hope Counseling LLC may help with:

🛠️ Faith and Evidence-Based Therapy

Christian counseling does not mean setting aside evidence-based care. I will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with Christian principles to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions.

This approach aligns naturally with Biblical teachings about the importance of our thoughts, perspective, and responses.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report… think on these things.”
— Philippians 4:8 (KJV)

Together, counseling may help you:

  • recognize unhealthy thought patterns
  • reduce anxiety and emotional overwhelm
  • respond to challenges in healthier ways
  • strengthen emotional and spiritual well-being
